The SAGA Barcelona Game Fest will include an official Nintendo gaming space, more than 500 gaming points, international figures from the videogame industry, and a strong professional marketplace<\/strong><\/p>

  • With Japan as guest country, Nintendo will have an official stand to present its most recent launches and allow visitors to try them. There will also be interviews with the composers Miki Higashino and Manami Matsumae<\/strong><\/li>
  • The fun on offer for the general public will involve more than 150 classic arcade machines, more than 200 independent videogames, tournaments and competitions involving different titles, talks, and activities for all ages<\/strong><\/li>
  • As many as 1,500 meetings are expected to be held in the business area using the MeetToMatch platform. More than 30 publishers will be present and the area will host the \u201cMentorships for the Future\u201d scheme sponsored by Larian Games<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>

    Barcelona, 18 September 2026.<\/strong> This morning, SAGA Barcelona Game Fest has released its full programme of content, activities and attractions for the industry at its the latest event, which will take place from 9 to 11 October at the Fira de Barcelona trade fair complex at Montju\u00efc<\/strong>. The event, which has the institutional support of the Government of Catalonia, Barcelona City Council and the Spanish Ministry of Culture, consolidates a large-format approach designed as a response both to the interests of the gaming community and to the local industry\u2019s priorities: development, funding and its international profile.

    This was pointed out by the spokesperson for SAGA Barcelona Game Fest, Tina Font<\/strong>, who stressed the \u201cdesire to offer an open, inclusive space, accessible for everyone, overcoming traditional stigmas and demonstrating that videogame culture can involve people of all ages and profiles<\/strong>\u201d. Along these lines, she pointed out that the event will also be \u201ca great shop window for showing off the multidisciplinary work in the industry\u201d.

    Meanwhile, the Director General of Language Policy in Technology and the Audiovisual Industries for the Government of Catalonia, Roger Serra<\/strong>, predicted that the SAGA Barcelona Game Fest \u201cwill be the flagship videogame event in southern Europe and, at the same time, a meeting point for the Catalan-speaking communities from the ecosystem<\/strong>\u201d. He also insisted on the role of Catalan during the Saga Barcelona Game Fest: \u201cThe event must be an example of Catalan being present in a sector with an international profile. It will be the language of the signage, attention to the public and most of the scheduled activities,\u201d he concluded.

    Along similar lines, Barcelona City Council\u2019s Commissioner for the Social Use of Catalan, Marta Salicr\u00fa<\/strong>, explained that the council is committed to the Saga Barcelona Game Fest \u201cgiving support to its move to Fira de Barcelona and participating in the programming for this essential event\u201d in the city.\u00a0 She stressed that the videogame sector is a strategic one, both for the digital economy and creative industries and because it has potential for socialisation in Catalan: \u201cWe will take successful case studies there to be used as examples of this industry\u2019s potential in Barcelona, such as SOMNI Game Studios, a videogame studio that received advice from Barcelona Activa when it began its activities<\/strong>. But there will also be the experiences of students from two schools and colleges belonging to the Barcelona Education Consortium specialising in courses in designing and developing videogames and virtual environments: Pedralbes Secondary School in Les Corts and the Dei\u00e0 School of Art and Design in Nou Barris,\u201d she said.<\/p>

    More than 500 gaming points, an exclusive Nintendo space and leading international figures from the sector<\/strong><\/p>

    The direct experience for the general public will be headed by the Nintendo Space<\/strong>, an official stand where the Japanese multinational will present its most outstanding new releases, also offering gaming points so visitors can try out its recent launches and take part in the activities of its community. This is one of the few events in Spain where the brand has a presence.<\/strong><\/p>

    The recovery of leisure heritage will take on an unprecedented leading role in the Arcade Zone, bringing together more than 150 classic arcade machines and original booths to make up the biggest amusement arcade in Spain, accompanied by a specific space for Japanese musical arcade games<\/strong>. Visitors will also find a Retro Zone equipped with consoles, microcomputers and historic titles, as well as community competition areas for fight games in the Fighting Zone.

    For those looking to be surprised by more exclusive titles, the gaming area will be completed with a central exhibition including more than 300 titles from independent studios and well-known publishers.<\/strong><\/p>

    To complete the experience, there will also be immersive installations with the latest virtual reality devices and simulation booths in the VR and Simulator Zone<\/strong>. Pavilion 1 at Fira de Barcelona Montju\u00efc will also have a large area with items related to the world of videogames, as well as official stores and an outdoor culinary area with food trucks.<\/p>

    Competition and eSports will have a central, structured presence in the form of different operational areas. In the Competition Zone, visitors will be able to sign up and take part in open knock-out tournaments with top titles like FIFA<\/em>, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe<\/em>, Street Fighter 6<\/em>, Super Smash Bros<\/em>, Virtua Tennis<\/em> and Mario Strikers<\/em>. In the LAN Zone, with high-speed network infrastructure, there will be continuous multiplayer computer games and Call of Duty<\/em> tournaments on the local network<\/strong>.<\/p>

    \u00a0Alongside this, there will be a stage to host the grand finals and eSports exhibition matches, including a top-class League of Legends <\/em>clash between two teams from the Spanish first division: Bar\u00e7a eSports (official FC Barcelona team) and the team from the University of Barcelona, UB Alma Mater.<\/strong> The day of competitions will also include an exhibition match featuring the Valorant<\/em> women\u2019s Bar\u00e7a eSports team and the institutional presentation of the new university League of Legends<\/em> league by the University of Barcelona.<\/p>

    The leading figures in the area of culture and publicity will be the Japanese composers Miki Higashino<\/strong> (writer at Konami of the soundtracks of the Suikoden <\/em>saga, the classic Gradius<\/em> and the early Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles <\/em>games) and Manami Matsumae<\/strong> (a key figure at Capcom responsible for the original music of Mega Man<\/em> and Rockman<\/em>, Final Fight<\/em>, U.N. Squadron<\/em> and collaborator on Shovel Knight<\/em>). Both of them will be involved in talks and in-depth interviews on the main stage, which will be used for formats like lectures and shows, accompanied by a performance of symphonic music on the piano by the creator and performer Elesky<\/strong> on the Sunday, and by a participatory musical Trivial Pursuit game on soundtracks that will be open to everyone.<\/p>

    The general programme will also include the celebration of 25 years of the radio programme Generaci\u00f3 Digital<\/em> with a round table featuring several regulars from the programme, a live show from the creators Pazos64 and Eric of Leyendas and Videojuegos<\/strong>, and a cosplay competition on Sunday 11 October with a themed fashion parade on the main stage and cash prizes for the most outstanding entries.<\/p>

    New stories and innovation will be represented by the My Famicase Exhibition fresh in from Tokyo with 250 case covers illustrated by international artists<\/strong>; the second Glitch Collection, with interactive installations of alternative and experimental videogames from Germany (Line Wobbler), Argentina (Escalatr\u00f3nico 7000) and Catalonia; a technical collaboration with IntoReality, finalist in the prestigious Zinemaldia Startup Challenge at the 2026 San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival; and a publicity campaign including a themed page on the Steam platform, with discounts and a physical commemorative sticker album.<\/p>

    Professional sector: B2B with MeetToMatch, a tutorial programme from Larian Games and industry debates<\/strong><\/p>

    The professional business area will be linked by the international networking platform MeetToMatch, associated with the purchase of every professional ticket, to coordinate bilateral meetings between development studios, distributors, investment funds and the trade press. Almost 400 participants have already signed up for the spaces, and 350 meetings have already been arranged. The aim is to reach 1,500 business meetings during the three days of the event.<\/strong> Commercial activity will include the participation of publishers and leading international investors. 30 companies have already signed up, including Kepler Entertainment (Clair Obscure: Expedition 33<\/em>), 11 Bit studios (This War of Mine<\/em>, The Alters<\/em>) and Bandai Namco (Elden Ring<\/em>, The Blood of Dawnwalker<\/em>).<\/p>

    To promote emerging developers, \u201cMentorships for the Future\u201d \u2013 a format commissioned and sponsored by the Larian Games studio and involving well-known creatives, \u2013 will carry out diagnosis sessions, quickly returning projects to independent teams. Content on funding will be completed with pitching sessions and investment advice coordinated with Madrid In Game, which will also give an institutional talk, and with the international publisher WINGS, a specialist in funding titles promoted by women.<\/strong> Talent will be recognised with the official IndieDevDay Awards ceremony, intended to pick out the projects with the best prospects present at the event in the categories: art, design, stories and technology.<\/p>

    Technical training on Stage 2 will include a workshop by Laura Topakian, a marketing specialist at Panik Arcade, creators of CloverPit<\/em>, who spent her earlier career at Motion Twin, on the creation of the best possible Steam capsule and visibility, press and community management for independent projects. The area will also host the official post-mortem on the videogame Farlands, <\/em>by Eric from Leyendas & Videojuegos to analyse its production process and market launch; a talk by G\u00e9raud Zucchini on the creative and commercial development of Sol Cesto<\/em>; Rachel Watts\u2019 training programme on practical methods for discovering games, positioning on Steam and structuring press kits<\/strong>; and a meeting with the independent developer Rami Ismail, cofounder of Vlambeer and creator of tools like dopresskit.com and gamedev.world, dealing with sustainability and the democratisation of global leisure creativity.<\/p>

    Strategic debate will be take the form of three round tables on current issues:<\/strong> the session \u201cFrom SAGA to the BAFTAS\u201d, focusing on the recognition and foreign profile of Catalan talent; a round table on diversity and female leadership bringing together women managers and creators in key positions in the sector; and a debate with leading specialists devoted to analysing the transformation of distribution channels and the future of the physical format.<\/p>

    Sponsors, technological infrastructure, linguistic commitment and parallel events<\/strong><\/p>

    Language and social integration is headed by the exhibition \u2018Female in Gaming\u2019, that is about the work of women in the industry that is part of the traveling event of the same name. Its goal is to provide a social, inclusive, and informative perspective on women through voices that open the doors to all areas of the video game industry.<\/strong> The exhibition will be accompanied by complementary activities and guided tours to understand the project’s context, the current situation of women, and the range of opportunities available to future professionals.<\/p>

    The event will also promote specific casting and Catalan commentary sessions for competitive games and ensure all the content and talks scheduled during the SAGA Barcelona Game Fest have a Catalan version, thanks to the support and tech tools of the company Link3rs.

    Movistar, as official technological sponsor, will provide connectivity, high-capacity networks and internet access in the whole trade fair complex, guaranteeing the essential infrastructure of the LAN zone<\/strong>, the competition stations and the live broadcasts from the three official stages. This deployment reflects Telef\u00f3nica\u2019s commitment to its aim of being the best way for citizens to access digital technologies, providing innovative experiences and helping offer customers more and better services.<\/p>

    As a morning side event to the first day of the SAGA Barcelona Game Fest, there will be a videogame industry networking workshop organised with the cooperation of Scopely at the company\u2019s offices in Barcelona.<\/strong> This exclusive get-together will bring together representatives of top development studios, distributors and industry organisations.<\/p>

    Scopely is the leading mobile game company in the United States and a world leader in free-to-play videogames,<\/strong> with successful global titles like Monopoly GO!, Stumble Guys and MARVEL Strike Force, played by millions of people all over the world. Scopely has been present in Spain since 2017, where it is the videogame company with the biggest team, employing more than 1,000 professionals between its hubs in Barcelona and Seville. The 8,500 m2<\/sup> Barcelona hub is strategic for the company and is also the headquarters of Playgami, Scopely\u2019s own technological platform, which is used to develop and operate the games in its portfolio.<\/p>

    The satellite programme in Barcelona will be completed with a series of industry events connecting the professionals attending the SAGA Barcelona Game Fest: Devolver Digital\u2019s \u201cafter-work\u201d meeting in the Cupra room<\/strong>; the industry session organised by the Spanish Association of Women in the Videogame Industry; the networking meeting with cocktails for women from the international industry coordinated by ICEX; and the late-night \u201cafter-party\u201d organised jointly by the Brainwash Gang studio and the Raw Fury publisher.<\/p>
