The new format will give even more visibility to the video game industry of our country, and will reinforce the presence of Catalan, as it will bring together all the sector’s players
Plataforma per la Llengua, BCN Game Fest and Retrobarcelona are joining forces to organize SAGA Barcelona Game Fest, which will be the largest video game fair in Southern Europe. It will take place on October 9th, 10th, and 11th at the Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc venue, bringing together industry professionals, development studios, game publishers, content creators, and gaming fans in a space that grows to 14,000 square meters. The new fair already has a website and profiles on Instagram, X, TikTok, and BlueSky.
The new event is born from the merger of the three reference fairs in the sector, and aims to establish itself as the main meeting point for the video game industry. The fair will combine activities aimed at the general public with activities for industry professionals, and in fact, on Friday, October 9th, especially in the morning, the spotlight will be on activities for these professionals, as well as for students in fields related to video games.
SAGA Barcelona Game Fest will be a great opportunity to network and exchange ideas, and will provide visibility to emerging projects. It will feature a B2B (business-to-business) space for holding meetings and business contacts, which will be powered through the MeetToMatch (M2M) platform. Additionally, the event will take a step forward in terms of internationalization, with participation expected from studios and projects from more than 35 countries.
The fair will also be very attractive to the general public. In this regard, it will include video game exhibition booths with playtests of new games, specialized stores, and merchandising sales spaces. Also an esports and competitions area, a large area dedicated to the dissemination and preservation of retro video games, an area with family leisure activities, and a gastronomic space. Within the framework of the event, many workshops, podcasts, conferences, talks, and round tables will be scheduled.
An opportunity to strengthen the local industry and Catalan in the world of video games
The organizing entities believe that the alliance will further strengthen the video game industry, as it will bring together in a single event studios and companies that until now were already participating in one of the three fairs. This concentration can facilitate the creation of alliances and synergies between companies and sector players, and grow the presence of Catalan in video games: the language will be taken into account across the board in an event that will grow in booths, companies, attendees, and activities.
All the details of the fair will be announced soon.
